BigRentz

Tackling subject matter expertise in a compliance-heavy industry.

Industry: Construction
Role: Technical content writer & editor

BigRentz is an equipment rental network for construction, warehousing, and demolition professionals. Campaign content was largely published under the BigRentz CEO's byline, so it was essential that each post be not just technically accurate, but also as detailed and comprehensive as anything a bona fide construction expert might write.

When I joined the project, my team had identified two high-value keywords that they'd put off targeting due to the highly technical nature of the topics. In order to rank for the keywords "construction bid template" and "construction daily report," we would need to provide actual working templates — and since bids and reports are legal documents, we needed to be able to promise that the templates we created were technically flawless in order to avoid exposing the client to legal risk.

Since I had experience in technical and legal writing, I was tasked with drafting both templates. I performed deep research on contract liability and worked with the client's legal department to ensure each document was compliant with legal and industry standards. I then worked with our design team to create templates that balanced universal functionality with light BigRentz brand elements, and I wrote comprehensive instructional guides to accompany each document.

Both posts rank in the top five results for their respective keywords and continue to bring in over $3,000 in cumulative monthly traffic value.
